 Judy was born in Sussex and now lives near Winchester. She studied Fine Art at Brighton College of Art, which led to a wonderful start to her career painting the portraits of such people as Dirk Bogarde, James Robertson Justice, Kenneth More and other film stars.
As a professional painter, Judy works in all media. She designed a range of greetings cards using flowers, pigs and various views of Winchester. She drew pigs; Tamworths - all gorgeously burnt sienna and hairy - and they were so popular they became a book. A book on India was commissioned and she spent a lot of time travelling the width and breadth of the country and painting all the time. From there, she burst out in all directions of colour, form, light and texture. A trip to Australia was the inspiration behind a series of large rich oil paintings of the Red Centre. Visits to Italy and France have led to both delicate watercolours and vibrant oils. Judy's paintings of the River Itchen, are in steady demand. In her studio, Judy is always experimenting with colour, texture, subject matter, and media. Her current work features blocks of colour and lots of emptiness, giving a feeling of space and atmosphere. |
